Is Rogue One an influential movie?Personally, I do really feel like Rogue One: A Star Wars Story is already proving itself to be an influential movie. Or at least has the potential of becoming an influential movie. But to be fair, you will only know that for sure 5-10 years into the future. Avengers is 5 years old already, and we already know for certain that's a very influential movie. Heck, it most likely helped movies like Rogue One to get made.
But okay, so what are my arguments for this personally? Well, Rogue One was a box office success, which is a big contributing factor to what I'm about to say. Because first of all, it shows studios we want more Star Wars spin-off movies. This will lead to them doing all kinds of spin-off stories we could have only imagined in our wildest dreams before.
Second, it shows studios that we are fine with a movie ending with all the main characters dying.
Third, it shows studios we
I will never get pushy religious peopleI've said it before, and I'll say it again - I am immensely happy the Daredevil Netflix show shows us openminded analytical religious people who do NOT push their religions onto others. Matt's conversations with the priest makes me honestly have a bit of an understanding how and why people would be of such a religious belief... at least to SOME extent, you know?
But oh my fucking god... I HATE religious people who tells others they must share their specific religious belief. And they love their loopholes and fallacies and slippery slopes to an insane extent. I can come up with the most clever and thought-provoking questions, and they just tend to be such narrowminded idiots they try to dig up a way to be right.
I can for instance ask how they know their God doesn't lie, and there's just no way in hell you will get a proper answer from them. At best, they'll say "I don't know". At worst? They either do the circular logic that the Bible says so, or they say that God's words and laws make
Fairy tales and fantasy, gay-excluding?I just don't get it - no matter where I look, fairy tale stuff and fantasy stuff no matter if it's a movie, show, or comic - no proper gay inclusion. And I guess I should clarify - "fantasy" to me doesn't mean something just including "fantastical elements". Fantasy to me is when magic is involved, and fictional creatures such as elves and trolls and dragons and fairies and what-have-you.
Not even the more "edgy" stuff trying to rewrite the ways we view fairy tales does this. Into the Woods, Once Upon A Time, Wicked, etcetera - they like to pretend to be "edgy", yet they clearly are not. Being "edgy" is when you dare to include something taboo, something controversial.
There's stuff like Game of Thrones and the Saga comic, but both of those have hints of homophobic vibes in the ways they "include" gays. And the new Beauty & the Beast barely even deserves a mention. Again, I just don't get it.
I saw Doctor StrangeSo, Doctor Strange. Impressive awesome visual effects, great fight scenes, great acting (except for one), enjoyable protagonist, Interesting lore I want to learn more about, and overall I didn't regret watching it and will rewatch it. In fact, I think it's one of those movies you HAVE to watch more than once in order to keep up with all the lore and rules with the magic and what-not you need to keep up with. I'm glad to have the movie in my collection of Marvel Cinematic Universe movies finally.
But of course, wasn't perfect. Several and various details with it kinda bugged me. But I want to go through various moments and scenes from the movie to explain some of the noteworthy stuff I thought about. Forgive me if I repeat stuff others have already said - I haven't really checked out others' reviews of it yet.
So, in retrospect after watching the whole movie, the opening doesn't make much sense. Sure, the villains have a great short scene fighting the Ancient One
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 trailerOkay, so we FINALLY have a proper trailer for the next Guardians of the Galaxy movie now. Here's the link to it:
Oh my god. Baby Groot at 1:06 in the trailer. I just... I can't. Groot has turned into a cute hilariously adorable killing machine. That moment of him charging and roaring is my new favorite moment of any movie ever made, and I haven't seen seen the movie yet. LOL
So yeah, we finally know now it's not an exaggeration to say Baby Groot is the most adorable thing with the movie, but might also be the biggest selling point to make it burst far above the box office expectations. It's a clever creative new gimmick to pull off to make the sequel feel strong and unique.
Uhm... this trailer and the previous teaser trailer though makes me notice they're throwing in jokes making fun of Star-Lord having the hots for Gamora. Do we really even need this to be a thing? And that female alien at the end exposing Star-Lord's sexual attraction for Gamora makes me realize yet again
Scott Pilgrim vs the WorldIt has been two days since I decided to watch the movie Scott Pilgrim vs the World to give it a fair chance. I was expecting a fun dumb flick with video game-inspired fighting...... and despite that, I hated this movie. A LOT. So... if you love this movie? Good for you, but you have been warned - I'm not going to be nice to this movie. But I've taken two days to calm down from my anger over it, so I should be able to keep myself rational and constructive to at least SOME extent. But I still need to apologize in advance, because this movie fills me with hate personally.
I did think there was a risk this movie wouldn't end up being my cup of tea. But since so many people seem to love it as fun dumb popcorn entertainment, I thought it would at least be THAT to me. But what I got instead was one of the most poorly directed and poorly written things I've ever seen. -_-
We follow of course Scott Pilgrim, played by Michael Cera. And this is the first movie I've ever seen starring that
